How To Keep Your Car’s Audio System Safe

August 12, 2016

The harsh reality we live in is one where thieves, burglars, and violent criminals have become a “recurring theme”. While there is not much we can do to get rid of thieves, we can embrace a proactive attitude against them. This usually means taking the best precautions that will keep our property safe. To most people, their cars are the most important investment they will make during their life, besides buying a home. So it is a must to protect this valuable asset from opportunist thieves who linger around parking lots. If you are lucky enough to be the owner of an attractive car you had to dig deep into your pocket for, you have even more reasons to do your best to keep it safe. This includes the expensive audio system, GPS tracking device, and any other valuable items you might be storing into your car.

Tint Your Windows

If a thief passing your car notices the fancy sound system you have on, they will be automatically triggered to try to grab it. Tinted windows will prevent the interior of your car from damaging UV rays, while giving you a higher level of privacy.

You are also highly advised not to try to show off the latest stereo system you play your favorite radio tunes on. Namely, avoid blasting your audio system, or you will alert potential thieves about the new job they could plan. The smash-and-grab method is one of the most popular ones used by car thieves interested in laying their hands on anything of value they can find in your car, on the front/back seats, or inside the unlocked glove compartment.

Strengthen The Locks On Your Carlocksmithspros.com

Have the current locks on your car’s doors and trunk inspected by a professional locksmith. Lubricate the locks, latches, and hinges to get rid of distracting squeaks and keep the sensitive mechanisms moving the way they should be moving. Use dry graphite powder or other types of lubricant or simply ask an authorized automotive locksmith to throw you a hand. Re-key or reprogram your car keys or key fob if needed, and fix any small problem the technicians might discover before it turns into a security vulnerability.

Take a look at a lits of basic locksmith prices here https://www.locksmithspros.com/prices and compare a few rates from different services with the average market prices in your area. This should give you a more insightful look into the prices you should expect. Make sure you only hire a licensed and insured service with lots of positive reviews and have them recommend the best lock and car alarm solutions.

If you do not already have an alarm installed on your car, it is time to change things. The alarm will keep your entire vehicle better protected against thieves, as loud alarms are powerful deterrents. Your audio system will, therefore, be better protected against threats. It is possible to fit an alarm that enables drivers to fully customize the options and ensure nonstop protection.

You could also use an old cassette tape player as a good disguise for your more expensive stereo sound system to trick potential thieves.
