Singer/rapper/songwriter/author/skater Manafest releases his second video, “Pray,”and fourth single, “Stick To Your Gunz,” from his highly anticipated new album, Reborn, releasing independently Oct. 2 through The Fuel Music.
With tracks on Reborn mirroring the hunger and predominant hip-hop flavors accompanying this versatile artist’s self-released debut a dozen years ago, Manafest’s “Pray” follows first video/single release, “Let You Drive,” which hit No. 1 last week and holds the top spot this week on the CMW Rhythmic chart as it remains “New and Active” at Billboard Christian Rock radio. While “Let You Drive” is about taking your hands off the wheel and knowing that God’s got everything under control, “Pray” suggests plugging directly into the source.
“I believe in the power of prayer and that prayers spoken in faith can change things,” says Manafest. “I think as a believer, it is our strongest weapon we have when fighting through the battles of life. I wish prayer was always the first thing I go to when I hit a wall, but sometimes I find myself calling a friend first or trying to figure it out on my own. Sometimes we have to hit rock bottom before we decide to finally pray. I hope this song inspires people to pray more often.”
Joining “Let You Drive,” “Shine” (featuring Thousand Foot Krutch frontman Trevor McNevan), and “Reborn,” “Stick To Your Gunz” becomes the fourth single available today as an immediate download with each iTunes pre-order of Reborn. The new single features former Family Force 5 lead vocalist Soul Glow Activatur (Solomon Olds) joining Manafest on this rhythmic party rocker. “Stick To Your Gunz” is an all-out anthem for surviving the struggle and never going down for the count.
“After a show, while signing autographs, one of my fans told me how much one of my songs impacted her,” remembers Manafest. “She said, ‘Yeah man, I got to stick to my guns.’ I thought to myself, that is a song idea right there about not quitting. Joel Bruyere [producer and Thousand Foot Krutch bassist] sent me a track and I carved the chorus out about keeping your finger on the trigger as a metaphor to keep a pulse on your dreams. It’s an all-out anthem for sticking with it, or staying in the game.”
In addition to Bruyere and the musicians mentioned above, joining Manafest in the process of creating Reborn is producer Seth Mosley (Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, Sanctus Real). Rappers Tedashii and Shonlock also vibe alongside Manafest on “I Have A Dream,” a track that carries on the message of peace and unity that Martin Luther King, Jr. began.
Taking the new music and messages of Reborn, along with his long list of fan favorites, on the road, Manafest continues his “Reborn Tour” that launched Sept. 17. The tour includes two events with Will Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, as well as an event with both Promise Keepers and Youth for Christ.
