5 Things You Should Know If You Seriously Want To Learn Music

August 14, 2016

For many reasons, music is thought to be a thing to learn as long as you are a child. Probably, it’s because adults might have less time to spend on learning music from zero. Nevertheless, learning music has immense benefits on either brain and body and it’s an excellent way to take your quality of life to the next level. Music can relieve stress and enhance your cognitive skills and memory skills all at the same time. Moreover, the precision movements that your fingers have to perform when playing, for example, piano or violin, contribute to the prevention of joint diseases. So, no matter if you aren’t a child anymore… you are always on time to start learning how to play an instrument!

Pros And Cons That You Should Consider

Learning music is exciting and lively, it’s the perfect experience that you could look for! Of course, your chances to become a musician are extremely rare, but you may always become a top excellent amateur and play for yourself, your friends, and during family get-togethers.

Consider the following facts about learning music as an adult. It’s important to be aware of what you will face through, so take a look at these pros and cons:adult music learner

  1. It’s like a new job
You have to learn from zero and build your knowledge day after day. Training is essential as well as theory. Let’s say that learning music is a job – take for example locksmiths, they have to complete a full training class, then get a license and continue their study in a specific field. The country’s most talented locksmiths can hope to be hired by important companies like 247Cerrajero San Antonio, so they have better chances to work and enhance their competence at the same time.
  2. Better understanding
Children are rarely capable of “understanding” what they are playing. They tend to execute, not to put feelings in music because feelings come from maturity and a deeper understanding of life situations. Beyond every music piece, there’s always a life situation and a mood.
  3. Great determination
Children learn music because their parents want them to learn. But when an adult learns music, that’s because he/she is strongly determined to do it. Music requires patience, time, self-discipline, interest, and love. In a word, adult learners are aware of what they have to face while learning music.
  4. Commitmentssheet music
This might be a negative point for some people because, as we told you above, adults have a job and family duties, as well. So, finding an hour or two per day to play music might become more than a challenge. You have to make your choice, at this point. Give up something of your life to give space to music or give up learning music and get back to your routine.
  5. Higher expectations
Adults seem to be in a hurry when learning music. They expect to see results too quickly, while children don’t even know what they should expect from themselves. If results aren’t good within a short time, adult learners tend to feel frustrated and might decide to give up music. What you need is determination and ongoing effort, sooner or later you will succeed!

The most important thing is to pick a good teacher and to enjoy what you play. Although exercises might be repetitive and boring, they prepare your mind and body for the best performance.
