TAMLA’s Lee Vasi Celebrates NAACP Image Awards Nomination

January 19, 2026

Legendary record label TAMLA celebrates a major milestone as rising artist Lee Vasi earns an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding New Artist for her breakout project Love Me To Life. The 57th Annual NAACP Image Awards will air live on February 28, 2026. Select categories will be announced during the two-hour televised special at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET, with a simulcast on the CBS Television Network.

Lee Vasi’s music pairs honest emotion with a sound that doesn’t fit neatly into one genre. She’s quickly connected with listeners through her authenticity and storytelling, and this nomination reflects both her growing reach and an important milestone in her career.

“This nomination is a big moment for Lee Vasi, and we couldn’t be prouder. She’s stayed true to herself since the very beginning, and that authenticity is what makes her music connect. We’re honored to stand with her at TAMLA as she continues to share her story,” says Walter Thomas, Senior Vice President, Motown Gospel.

Rooted in legacy while pushing boundaries forward, TAMLA continues to champion bold, innovative artists shaping the future of music. Music visionary Berry Gordy first founded Tamla Records nearly 65 years ago before changing the startup label’s name to the now-iconic Motown Records. A bridge from faith music to the mainstream since its inception, the first release on the fledgling label was the 1959 single “Come to Me,” from gospel-singer-turned-R&B-artist Marv Johnson. Tamla’s artist roster went on to include legends like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles.
